Sutherland misses out in Creak Shield cricket semi final
Sutherland junior cricket representative teams recently took part in the NSW Districts Cricket Association competitions against other district representative teams. These competitions involve teams from under 10 to under 16.

The best performed local team was the under 11 Creak Shield team. In its semi final Bankstown won the toss and batted first and was in trouble early at 5/27. The lower order rallied and Bankstown ultimately reached 123 off 47.3 overs. Wicket takers for Sutherland were L Miller with 2/18, H Tattersall 2/19 with L Entwistle, J Dwarshius, D Smith, W Vandermaa and J Mazurkiewicz taking one wicket each.

When it came Sutherland’s turn to bat, openers J Mazurkiewicz (16 runs) and W Vandermaal (18) got their team off to a great start with a 35 run opening stand. J Dwarshuis chipped in with 20 at number 3 to have Sutherland at 2 for 59 and on track for a win. However, Sutherland then lost wickets steadily with only D Smith (11 runs) providing some late resistance.  Sutherland lost its last four wickets in two runs to be dismissed for 101 and lose the match.
Well done to the under 11s to reach the semis of this tough competition. For more results of all Sutherland Shire teams go to: http://nswdca.nsw.cricket.com.au/common/pages/public/rv/RoundResults.aspx?id=RV_RRS&entityid=6943
