Sutherland’s under 14 and 15 teams in soccer play offs
After the final round of the Premier Youth League last weekend Sutherland Sharks have both its under 14 and 15 teams in the play off five. The Sharks 14s, despite a shock one nil loss to sixth placed Penrith Nepean United, retained second place on the ladder. The team now plays Blacktown City (third spot) in the preliminary semi-final at Football NSW headquarters at Valentine Sports Park at 10.15am on Saturday August 15.
Also, despite a 2 - 1 loss last weekend to Penrith, the under 15s qualified 4th for the play-offs. They play 5th team Penrith again in the elimination semi on Saturday August 15 at Valentine Sports Park with the game beginning at 12 noon.
The shock defeat of the Sharks 18s by 8th placed Penrith and Manly’s win saw the Sharks drop to 6th and miss out on the play-offs by a point.
Results for the last round (round 22) played last weekend against Penrith Nepean United at Cook Park (St Marys) were:
Under 13: Sutherland won 3 nil
Under 14: Sutherland lost 1 nil
Under 15: Sutherland lost 2 - 1
Under 16: Sutherland won 5 - 1
Under 18: Sutherland lost 4 - 3

Wildcats and Spiders win basketball titles at Sutherland
The Parramatta Wildcats and the Hornsby Spiders won the Waratah Australian Basketball league titles (WABL) for men and women respectively last weekend. The Sutherland Basketball Association again successfully hosted the 2009 Waratah ACC and NSW State League finals on the weekend of 8th - 9th of August.
Sutherland Basketball Association had hosted the Premier Event on the Basketball NSW's calendar two years ago with great success.
The weekend saw the conclusion of the season, with semi-finals on the Saturday and the grand finals on Sunday. The grades include men and women grades of Waratah ABL, State League and Youth League.
The results of the two grand finals were:
