Blacktown City sweeps Sutherland Sharks in PYL Soccer
It was not a good day for Sharks Premier Youth League soccer fans at Seymour Shaw Park last Saturday. All five teams lost to the strong Blacktown City club. Four of the games were close with only 1 goal in the result.
Full results for the round’s games against the Blacktown City Demons were as follows.
Under 13: Sutherland Sharks lost 1 nil
Under 14: Sutherland Sharks lost 1 nil
Under 15: Sutherland Sharks lost 2 – 1
Under 16: Sutherland Sharks lost 2 - 1
Under 18: Sutherland Sharks lost 6 - 3
Next Saturday March 14, the Sutherland Sharks Premier Youth League teams Premier Youth League teams take on Bankstown City at Jensen Park beginning with the under 13s at 9am.

Wheeler’s century leads to outright in Shire junior cricket
Corey Wheeler of Illawong Menai 14B was best of the batsmen last Saturday scoring 100no against St Patrick’s. He shared an unbeaten 181 opening stand with fellow opener Adrian Lynch (53 not out) off 27.1 overs. The team’s bowlers then backed up their efforts in dismissing a short handed St Patricks for 58 (Joshua Baldacchino (3/7) and 78 (Lachlan Ross 3/11).
Bowling honours for last Saturday went to Anthony McNamara of Engadine 14D. He took 6/25 against Caringbah. Unfortunately his effort could not prevent Caringbah taking first innings points with a total of 104 against his side’s 72 the previous week.
Other bowlers to take 5 wickets were Bosco 10E’s Andrew Nicoll (5/9) against Engadine, Mitcell Kensitt (5/14) of St Patrick’s 8A2 against Aquinas and Etoni Alone (5/23) of St Patrick’s 16D against Caringbah 16D.

Allen takes out Wanda Aquathlon Challenge
Ben Allen won the Australian Aquathlon challenge at Wanda last weekend in a time of 30 minutes 31 seconds. He took out the overall title and won the Men’s 20-24 division pipping Boyd Conrick by 19 secs. Conrick won the men’s 30 -34 division.
Third place getter and M16 -19 winner was Sam Douglas. Other divisional winners were Rob Battocchio (M35-39) and Roger Souter (M40 -44).
The best female was Sally Parker in 35:12 and she took out the F25-29 division. Other female division winners included Audrey Amiga-Hall (F16-19), Colleen Souter (F35-39) and Jenny Hahnville (F40-44). Cronulla Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) is to again present the annual Shark Island Swim Challenge - one of the premier events on the Ocean Swim calendar.
