Sutherland Sharks take two from two in PYL
The Sutherland Sharks had both its under 14 and under 13 teams in the Premier Youth League Grand Finals last weekend at Blacktown’s Gabbie Stadium. To the delight of Sharks fans who had made the trip north west both teams took the title.
The under 13s had a tough encounter with the Marconi Stallions as they needed extra time to prevail 1 nil. The 14s had it somewhat easier in overcoming Blacktown City 2 nil.
The five titles were shared around four clubs with the Sharks the only club to take two with APIA Leichhardt Tigers, Blacktown City and Marconi Stallions taking one each. The results of all grand finals at Gabbie Stadium Blacktown last Saturday August 30 were:
Under 18s:
Grand Final: Blacktown City 0 lost to APIA Leichhardt Tigers 2
Under 16s:
Grand Final: Marconi Stallions 1 lost to Blacktown City 1 on penalties 6 - 5
Under 15s:
Grand Final: Wollongong FC 0 lost to Marconi Stallions 2
Under 14s:
Grand Final: Sutherland Sharks 2 defeated Blacktown City 0
Under 13s:
Grand Final: Marconi Stallions (0) lost to Sutherland Sharks (0) in extra time 1 nil
Junior Cricket Coaches and Managers Meetings
The Sutherland Shire Junior Cricket Association holds information nights - these will be on Monday 8th September 2008 for Traditional Cricket at Sutherland United Services (SUS) Club, 7 East Pde Sutherland and Thursday 11th September 2008 for Modified Cricket at Caringbah Oval Sutherland Cricket Club room.
Both nights start at 7:30pm. It is compulsory for at least the Coach, Manager or a Parent from each Team to attend as there is two (2) points awarded to each team for attendance.

Participate or volunteer in the world’s largest multi-sport event
The Sydney 2009 World Masters Games (10-18 October 2009) is just over a year away and the Organising Committee has begun recruiting volunteers.

Prepare for junior cricket season in holidays at Bradman Oval
School Holiday Clinics for junior cricketers will be running on Bradman Oval, Bowral from 10am to 3pm, Wednesday October 1, Thursday October 2 and Friday October 3. The clinics are for girls and boys aged 8 – 16.
Participants can take part for one day or three to prepare for a big season. Any team or school that registers eleven players, one player is FREE.
Everyone who has registered by the closing date (September 24) will go into a draw for a Cricket Kit, valued at $280.(Batting pads, gloves, thigh pad, protector, willow Bat and Sommers kit bag).
