Two local teams are Champion of Champions

Lilli Pilli is the champion under 17 soccer team in NSW after last weekend’s champion of champions final at Football NSW headquarters, Valentine Park. In the final of the knockout competition between champion teams from Soccer Associations across NSW, the Lilli Pilli team was able to prevail over Chatswood Rangers by 1 nil in a tight match.
In another victory for the locals North Sutherland proved too strong for Brookvale in the All Age Women’s final. North Sutherland won 2 – 1. Unfortunately for Sutherland supporters, the Shire  could not pick up a trifecta of winners with the Menai Hawks going down by 3 to 2 to East Gosford in the under 15s.

Congratulations to all Shire teams for their performances throughout the competitions.

All you wanted to know about Scoring (at cricket!)

Have you just found yourself involved with cricket as a parent, grandparent or friend of a young player and scoring seems to be a black art? Well NSW Cricket has the answers for you!

The scorers’ website for information, training and other relevant information can be found at www.cricketnsw.com.au/scorer/

The site even talks about the dreaded Duckworth Lewis System!

See champion swimmers perform

If you like to watch swimming but can’t get a ticket to Olympics or World Championships, Sydney has almost the next best thing on Friday and Saturday (November 2 and 3) at the Olympic Pool, Homebush. It is the third leg of FINA/ARENA’s World Cup series. Champion swimmers such as Libby Lenton, Liesel Jones and Brenton Rickard will be on show as well as a host of other Aussies (including Craig Stevens) and international competitors.
The World Cup has seven legs with the first having been in Durban, the second in Singapore last weekend followed by meets in Sydney, Moscow, Stockholm, Berlin and Belo Horizonte. The compressed program with heats in the morning and finals on each of the two nights is full on.

The winner of each final takes home US$1500, with second taking $1000 and third $500. While some experienced swimmers compete for the money, others use it as part of their competition experience for Olympics and World Championships. At each leg swimmers attract points towards male or female swimmer of the World Cup series. The winners take home US$100000. Not too bad!!!
