In last week’s article you will recall that I outlined a compelling case for outsourcing so that you as business owner or senior manager can spend more time on those HVA’s (High Value Activities).
How did you go in answering the half dozen or so questions that I asked?
If you took the time to be serious about answering those very important questions, congratulations, it’s a positive step in the right direction and to taking you and your business to the next level.
If you did not take the time to answer those questions STOP here. Go back and DO IT - unless of course you are totally not serious about the health and well being of your business.
Do yourself a favour - apply this valuable knowledge and benefit accordingly.
Do nothing and, … well, suffer the consequences of your laziness, inaction, lack of willingness to learn and/or change.
Hey Paul, “That’s a bit harsh – don’t you think?”
Well frankly “No I don’t think it’s harsh, but it is the truth.”
Don’t make the very expensive mistake of thinking, “Well I get access to Paul’s Your Business Column at no cost so I won’t take much notice.”
If you are guilty of thinking like that it’s a HUGE MISTAKE.
The information I have been sharing now for over 2 years via this column is worth conservatively many tens of thousands of dollars to those who have applied it.
If you doubt this go back and check out past articles and you will see that they are full of solid content, not just a sales pitch (although from time to time I do make offers to readers that I believe are in your interests).

I have said all that to say this -
Apply what you read in these articles otherwise you have been wasting your time and doing the very opposite of investing in HVA’s since to know and not to do is really not to know.
NO VICTIMS:
Remember YOU CHOOSE to live the life you lead and the business you do.
YOU are not a victim. Sure there may be hard choices that need to be made.
Yet they are still choices.
Don’t fall into the trap of mediocrity and live, play or act like a victim.
IF you choose that route it will destroy your life, your business and all you have.
Instead STAND UP ON THE INSIDE and begin to learn how you can fulfil your destiny in business, family, relationships etc, after all, someone once said, “Life is not a dress rehearsal.”
ACTION STEPS:
1. Go back and answer questions from last week’s article (if you have not done so already).
2. Go hire or buy the ‘Dangerous Minds” DVD from 1995 with Michelle Pfeiffer. It tells the story of an ex-marine teacher who struggles to connect with her students and shows the impact of some of the choices they make.
3. Go hire or buy “The Ron Clark Story” (aka “The Truimph”) DVD (2006) with Matthew Perry. It tells the story of a teacher who tries to make a difference in the lives of his students, despite nobody, including the students themselves, believing in them.
4. Watch both movies with your business partners, family or significant others and reflect on the lessons that you can translate to your business and/or family life.
