THE ASTROLOGICAL MERCURY

Astronomically Mercury can never be more than 28 degrees away from the Sun (preceding or following). He has an orbital period of 11-13 months and retrogrades approximately every 4 months for a period of approx. 23 days.

This retrograde period is a mental ‘down time’, a time to rethink, redo or indeed re anything and indicates a process that is as natural as sleeping is to waking. Hence it is not a good time to sign important documents and is the time when communication is most likely to go astray but is a great time to complete unfinished projects.

Mercury astrologically is associated with the Greek God Hermes who has a bewildering number of roles including thief, magician, craftsmen and is the god of commerce, merchants and words and language. He is also the Messenger of the Gods and as such is the only god (planet) who has access to each and every other god.
