Seeing Stars ... Week beginning 28 January 08

The emphasis is on Pluto this week because of his once-in-a-lifetime ingress into Capricorn

The emphasis is on Pluto this week because of his once-in-a-lifetime ingress into Capricorn

As Pluto is such a slow moving planet, spending 17 years in this sign, it does not activate every house in a lifetime so that when and if it does tends to suggest you are more than ready to deal with or pursue issues pertaining to that area of life. As Pluto concerns himself with death, destruction and renewal you can expect major transformations to occur.

The saying “no pain, no gain” could have been written with Pluto experiences in mind. After this introductory visit, with its promise of things to come, from June through to December 2008 he slips back into Sagittarius for the final time. Major issues that you have been dealing with that you have not resolved and the changes incorporated into your life now need to be dealt with so you can move forward, without baggage, into the next cycle.

For information on what you have been dealing with over the past 15 years read the sign after the current one, e.g. Aquarius now has Pluto in the solar 12th house, before that it was in the 11th house, so read Pisces for an indication.

THE WOLLONGONG COLLEGE OF ASTROLOGY IS NOW TAKING ENROLMENTS FOR FIRST YEAR. NO NEW ENROLMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER CLASS COMMENCES.

AQUARIUS

With Pluto entering your solar 12th house the time is ripe to rediscover those parts of the self that have previously been denied. We all deny or repress certain parts of ourselves generally because we have learnt that they are not acceptable. Now some of these drives are certainly negative, but what of those that are not? If, for whatever reason, our curiosity, creativity or enthusiasm for instance was not validated, these too are repressed thereby denying development and integration into the personality. Why is it with everything you have there is still that sense of unfulfilment? Unresolved issues, fears, complexes may come to the surface during these years demanding recognition as they still unconsciously affect your life satisfaction. These may not be easy years but the rewards are great as you face and deal with your demons.

PISCES

With Pluto emphasising your 11th solar house of ideals, goals and objectives you may become confused about where you fit in. Your sense of direction and purpose in life is being challenged and may have a spill-over affect on friendships and the groups you associate with as you struggle to find new meaning and values. No longer satisfied with the status quo you find yourself looking for something with a higher purpose where your contribution can make a difference. Use these years to reform the self for “the quality of any community depends on the contribution of each of its members”.

ARIES

During these years do not take any short cuts and make sure all your dealings are honest and above board because with Pluto in your solar 10th house it can be a very public fall from grace. The challenge here is the correct use of power as there can be far reaching changes to profession, social standing and your reputation. This house along with the 4th house also deals with parental issues so situations may arise that force you to acknowledge and deal with any unfinished emotional business such as guilt, anger and resentment, that block the relationship or hinder growth.

TAURUS

As Pluto enters and moves through your 9th house many previous held beliefs or religious convictions might be challenged and overhauled. This can manifest through travel or higher education as your world view is broadened to encompass different philosophies. This could also come through a relationship that has provided the catalyst or stimulus for change as new thoughts and ideas bring a new interpretation and understanding. The challenge here is to be more responsive to the ideas and thoughts of others instead of clinging stubbornly to some self-limiting beliefs.

GEMINI

As the symbolism of Pluto is closely related to that of the 8th house he is well and truly in his comfort zone which means you can expect to be shaken out of yours. This house is about the ‘nuts and bolts’ in relationships – when you are through playing games, this is where it is at. Dealing with shared resources including financial, emotional, intimate, others’ values - the things and feelings that are stirred when two people are closely related. Here you need to confront not only your own darkness but also that in others, and by doing so reassess priorities and make major changes that allow a more authentic life style.

CANCER

The 7th house is where we learn to share, to co-operate, to work together on an equal basis and of all the houses it is the one most closely linked to projection. Over the next 16 years issues around power and control can come to the fore enabling you to work and deal with it. This may take the form of a controlling partner, jealousy, possessiveness; obsessive tendencies where you need to stand your ground and fight for your rights. By avoiding crisis or confrontation you are cheating yourself of the growth and transformation that comes through facing up to the realities of a situation. Some relationships don’t survive and nor should they, while others gain in strength.

LEO

Here in the 6th house self-improvement is the name of the game so get ready for a bit of necessary self-analysis which manifests in a regular exercise program and/or a change of diet.  Pluto wants to remind us of the connection and integrated system of body-mind so listen to your body and respect its needs and limits. Ill health is an indication that life is unbalanced and we all know that our mental and emotional health has a direct correlation to physical illness also. Work and your every day routine are also areas open to adjustment and refinement so if opportunities present themselves, whether forced on you or by your own choice, don’t fret, it is perhaps just what is needed to pull you out of a rut.

VIRGO

Ever felt afraid, held back by nameless fears? Well, seize the moment (in this case years) and go beyond your established limits and attitudes. Take a calculated risk because in this house, broadly associated with self-expression and creativity, you have arrived at the point of taking charge of your destiny and personal reality. Remember, not everyone will experience Pluto in this house in their lifetime meaning that in this stage of your evolution any latent or dormant capacities are in need of development. Failure to heed the call and take up the challenge can result in feelings of being blocked, stifled and being back at square one. Children are also associated with the 5th house and are a natural expression of Man’s creativity.

LIBRA

Although Pluto transits herald change/transformation wherever he may be, the destruction needed for necessary renewal is particularly felt here in the 4th house as you may feel the very foundation of your life is being threatened or removed. Another parental house, along with the 10th, their influence along with our childhood conditioning, that forge and effect your emotional securities, self- image, dependencies, moods and feelings, resurface and need to be brought out into the open. Present problems may have their roots in the past as you respond from deeply ingrained beliefs, traumas and difficulties. As they play out now new perspectives and insights can be gained by observing how prior habits and patterning can stymie your movement forward. By becoming consciously aware of how the past is impacting the present, the build up of emotional patterns and attitudes is released allowing a cleansing, healing and therefore, a rebirthing.

SCORPIO

Great changes are taking place with Pluto transiting the solar 3rd house of siblings, communication, local neighbourhood and early schooling. As Pluto slowly progresses through this house the mind is gradually deepened to the point where superficial explanations no longer suffice. Things that you have put up with for years, that seem to have become a permanent feature in your everyday life, are no longer tolerated. Relationships with those in your immediate environment may become strained as you confront situations that have always been taken for granted and perhaps a new understanding that is beneficial to all parties can be arrived at. It is important not to take a dogmatic, obsessive or dictatorial attitude as actions and speech can leave the other party (or yourself) feeling threatened. If you have been putting off a course of study you may find that now you feel more committed and able to deal with the demands that this can take.

SAGITTARIUS

Pluto’s journey through the solar 2nd house touches on your personal values, possessions, money and resources. Values here include material as well as psychological and by the end of this transit your whole attitude to this will have been transformed. If self-worth comes from external factors such as accruing and amassing possessions you may be placed in situations that demand the enhancement of your inner resources. The inner strength gained from this is not subject to external influences but redefined as self-worth not reliant on material status. This phase of the cycle is about developing those inner and outer resources but with the knowledge that it is only those inner values that we have control over.

CAPRICORN

Here your whole persona, the way you approach life, is being radically redefined. Sweeping changes could include drastically altering your physical appearance, taking a more responsible and mature approach or a drastic swinging of focus from inner to outer or vice versa. Pluto always triggers our survival instincts and in the solar 1st house any changes you make will have an affect on others, forcing them to change also. This should not be from manipulation or a fierce need to control but from the new found inner strength that has given you the courage to stand up and be counted. It also means being accountable for your actions and as this is a slow maturing process you will become more and more accepting of this.
