Seeing Stars
by Patricia Shepherd

Seeing Stars for the week beginning April 1, 2008

Do the planets actually give out energy?

ARIES

Mars your ruling planet has been squaring off with the Sun for several weeks now and will continue to do so for a few more weeks to come. Give this energy something to do and you will be rewarded, otherwise idle hands …

TAURUS

This is a favourable time for any bulls that have been humming and haaing over legal affairs to bite the bullet or at the very least seek some professional advice and start the ball rolling.

GEMINI

Why is it when you are just going about your own business some people just can’t leave well enough alone and want to argue all the time? Make sure it is not you trying to force your views on others.

CANCER

The next few days may see you going off on a tangent and you really can’t seem to get yourself back on track till much later in the week. The New Moon in Aries on Sunday sees you once again taking action.

LEO

I’m wondering if things are not going to plan if there is a little bit of behind the scene activity going on. This may be coming from yourself, as you are not yet ready to show your hand and won’t be for a few weeks yet.

VIRGO

Try and keep an open mind this week and not dwell on one particular thing to the exclusion of everything else otherwise you may become obsessive about it, which defeats the purpose.

LIBRA

There may have been some changes at work that has left you feeling unsettled and hard done by. You don’t quite know what to do about all these disruptions but burying your head in the sand won’t accomplish it.

SCORPIO

Be mindful of what you are doing because you are having a pretty big impact on others at the moment, some of whom are impressed by just how effective you are. A ruthless attitude or manner does not appeal to all though.

SAGITTARIUS

For those archers that are unattached and foot loose and fancy free a sudden attachment sees them aiming for the moon. It may miss the mark in the long term but is certainly invigorating in the short term.

CAPRICORN

You may inadvertently gain from someone else’s misfortune, which creates the opportunity to make some drastic changes in your life. See this as a new start with a rocky beginning.

AQUARIUS

Seems to be a lot of rushing around this week with very little being accomplished. This may be because you are finding it difficult to plan a course of action hence it all becomes rather haphazard.

PISCES

Try and curb those impulse buys, they will certainly give you a feel good in the moment experience but after you come down on yourself like a ton of bricks, it will just not be worth it.

Commonly asked questions

Do the planets actually give out energy?

Planets, while they indeed have mass and exist in the reality of the solar system, take on meaning when applied in a humanistic, allegorical sense.

Psychologically, their meaning is ‘archetypal’. In other words, they are symbols, each with a specific meaning, confirmed through the ages and which are constellated in the human being as models of behaviour.

This is the meaning of the word archetypal and these models are common to all of mankind. They are in essence human metaphors.

What are the origins of astrology?

Ancient man saw the planets as ‘gods’ and events on earth as actions of the ‘gods’. We need to remember that in those times day was day and night was night. Not like in today’s world where we light up the night sky with the use of electricity and the like, and in effect diminish the stars’ brightness. If you’ve ever been in the desert or out in the bush you know what I mean.

Anyway, the ancients may also have observed that a person born at the time grew to exhibit characteristics, of the type of events that were happening.

In studying the motion of the planets, the connection between planets’ cycles and human activities was made. Their wisdom is the foundation on which contemporary astrology stands.
