Eclipse gives its name to the Ecliptic, the path of the Earth around the Sun, or the apparent path of the Sun around the Earth.
An eclipse takes place in two ways, Solar and Lunar. It involves the royal pairing of the Sun and Moon by either a conjunction (solar, only occurring at a New Moon) or opposition (lunar, only occurring at a Full Moon), symbolizing the conscious and unconscious parts of the self.
Now, we have a New and Full Moon every month, but an eclipse only occurs when the Moon’s nodes, (the points in space where the Moon crosses the path of the ecliptic), are also within a few degrees.
The North Node or dragon’s head, has long been associated with our spiritual frontier, critical areas of growth and challenge, while the South Node or dragon’s tail symbolizes our past, wherein lies our most valuable strengths but also our deepest ruts.
This alignment of Sun, Moon and Earth heralds a significant time of closure and initiation.
Eclipses in Aquarius challenge us to transcend differences of gender, race, religion and nationality, to name a few. With Chiron, Mercury, Neptune and the North Node also in Aquarius we are receiving a pretty strong celestial statement about finding a bridge between seemingly disparate worlds.
Aquarius transcends the personal, so perhaps we can all redefine our priorities by making a conscious effort to extend ourselves from a purely self-interest motivation to a more global networking.
A new beginning occurs by acknowledging where you can make a difference and take responsibility for it, as it helps not only in your own healing but also the greater whole to which we all belong.

AQUARIUS
The Solar Eclipse in your sign this week conjuncts Chiron (past wounding), Mercury (communication), and Neptune (redemption, dissolution), signifying events/people this week may force you to acknowledge and deal with situations you have felt inhibited by. Frustrated and perhaps irrational at first, you find the courage to deal with it, one step at a time, gaining perspective.
PISCES
You may find that this week starts a process of letting go. Attachments and perceptions come under scrutiny and a new level of awareness is arrived at allowing for a more detached and impersonal view.
ARIES
Now that the silly season is over peruse the newspapers, colleges and brochures for an activity or interest that sees you mixing with like-minded people with similar interests. In this way new friendships can be formed
TAURUS
This eclipse activates your solar 10th house of career and where you want to head, so if you find yourself coming up against authority figures you may need to look at your own role in the exchanges and take responsibility for it.
GEMINI
Activating your 9th house, this solar eclipse highlights a need or a searching for truth and wisdom. Ethics and morals come into play as you question the standards, practices and beliefs in what you are currently involved in or wish to become involved in.
CANCER
Expect the actions of others to stir the water this week and no-one will be more surprised by the actions you take than you yourself. The sudden and unexpected forces you out of your comfort zone perhaps enabling a new form of detachment.
LEO
This solar eclipse in your opposite sign of Aquarius and therefore in your solar 7th house brings relationship issues to the fore. This is also the house of open enemies so you can expect some challenges from surprising sources.
VIRGO
Mercury your ruling planet conjuncts this solar eclipse in Aquarius within minutes on Thursday so you can expect issues that have lain dormant with co-workers to raise their head. Try to gain a level of detachment, as your response may be emotional and not necessarily rational. Health issues may also come to the fore.
LIBRA
You do a lot for the sake of appearances and to keep the peace but when your actions go unappreciated particularly by your loved one or children, it’s time to stand up and be counted: to let them know where you stand.
SCORPIO
Situations may arise on the home front or with your parents that forces the need for a reassessment of a previously held belief or commitment. Changes are afoot and forgiveness tends to free up a lot of stuck energy.
SAGITTARIUS
Siblings may be a cause of concern at this time upsetting the normal family dynamics. When one person changes within a system it forces all other participants to change as well. Sometimes this is not appreciated.
CAPRICORN
Financial and material perspectives come into focus and with it disillusionment with how things are running. If energy has been concentrated on the attainment of possessions and status and there is still that feeling of an empty void then the inner growth and journey needs to begin. |
