Steve Murphy has been involved in real estate for over 25 years and has seen a number of highs and lows in the industry and survived both boom periods and market crashes.
Like most industries, he says, he has also seen massive structural change in the past two decades, many of which he describes as being for the better.
Steve puts his own longevity in the real estate business down to his constant training and the fact he is always looking for improvements in the way he conducts himself and how he deals with others.
His constant search for improvement has seen him attend courses in the US, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, as well as throughout Australia.


As a way of passing on his knowledge he acts as a trainer, coach and mentor to those in the Ray White network who want to learn the art of real estate sales, auctions and property management.
A licensed auctioneer, Steve likes to offer his clients as many services as he can.
Steve says it is also important to keep the communication lines open at all times with his clients. He says many problems that arise in business transactions are the direct result of a breakdown in communication somewhere.
Steve says that when someone approaches him to sell their property, they are actually entering into a partnership and the ultimate outcome is a shared responsibility.
He says honesty, loyalty, dependability and accessibility have been the framework for his business and that superior results are often decided by these qualities, in some cases, more than expertise and are certainly often the qualities a client will remember most.
In saying that, he did emphasise expertise still plays a very important part as this is often the quality that can obtain for a client the very best possible outcome.
With a record of managing, negotiating and selling over 2,000 properties under his belt Steve feels that he has finally gained enough knowledge and expertise to make any client feel comfortable.
Steve, at one stage, managed multiple real estate offices but these days is happy to settle for being one of the Principals at Ray White Engadine and a Director of Ray White Preview Properties.
He sees the present market as one of the best he can personally remember and with a number of new projects up and running he is enjoying every minute.
Steve loves the Shire and sees no reason to move … not just yet anyway!
