Bronte Woodward … looking for a change

The idea of working outdoors after so many years in an office appealed

Bronte Woodward had worked in the banking and finance industry for 12 years and was looking for a change.  Unsure as to which direction to go career-wise, he saw an advertisement for a seminar on the potential of lawn mowing as a business.  The idea of working outdoors after so many years in an office appealed to him and he decided to attend to find out more. The seminar was conducted by Jim’s Mowing – the rest, as they say, is history.

At the time that Bronte Woodward joined the Jim’s Group, he was the 65th franchisee in his area.  After 11 years, there are now 175 and growing.

As a mowing franchisee, Bronte built up clients, organised them into set rounds and on-sold them several times. He eventually had over 100 regular clients of his own, including 15 in a street of 45, with 25 more in neighbouring suburbs, which virtually eliminated travelling time.

During this period, a number of his clients asked him if he could also do some odd jobs around the home while he was there. This part of his business grew weekly, to the point where he thought that he had acquired enough work to go out on his own and start a handyman business.  However, his busy schedule never allowed him to follow it through.

He then saw on the Jim’s Group website the Building Maintenance Division and, after a number of discussions with people within the Jim’s Group, he announced to his wife Carolyn the need change direction.

Bronte thought the risk was not that great as he had already established a strong regular client list of over 100 and he had witnessed firsthand the power of the Jim’s Group brand.  He believes it is an exciting time for the Jim’s Group, with a growing number of divisions and potentially unlimited work opportunities.  One of the great benefits for Jim’s Group franchisees is that if they feel they don’t necessarily have the right skills for a job, they can call on any number of experienced members within the group, including other divisions, to help them out and ensure their customers are fully and properly serviced.

Bronte said he has never felt better about his career, future and the decisions he has made and he is quick to acknowledge the support and input given to him by his wife, Carolyn.

One of the number of things that Bronte loves about his business is that he is now making money for himself, working out his own financial situation and future rather than that of other people and the banking industry.

He added that the Jim’s Group has been fantastic for him and has created another social arm which he found to be almost non-existent in the stressful work environment of banking.

Dean loves living in the Sutherland Shire. In fact he was born, raised and schooled in the Shire and currently lives with his young family at Engadine. In his younger days he was an accomplished sportsperson and is still actively involved in local amateur sports administration. He operates his own business in the area and is keen to support and promote the wider community in any way.
