One-stop registration stop
As the owners of Brimac Automotive, Jan and Peter provide registration services for cars including blue, green and pink slips. However, for larger vehicles, caravans and trailers that require weighing as part of their registration Brimac lacked the necessary equipment to provide this service. This meant that they had to send customers elsewhere rather than provide the service themselves.
Jan and Peter wanted to position Brimac as a one-stop ‘registration shop’, so it seemed a natural progression to install a weighbridge to provide these extra services. Now, with the only weighbridge in the area, they can provide a complete and efficient service.
Another service that Brimac provides is the fitting of child restraints. Peter is a registered child restraint fitter, so you can be assured that your child seat is correctly fitted.
The key to success
When asked what they love most about their business and what they think is the key to their success, Jan and Peter both agree that they love the contact with people and that they like to have fun.
This common ground has meant their biggest influence is each other as they both strive to do what is right for their customers but also ensure a warm and friendly atmosphere that makes each day worthwhile.
A tongue in cheek message hangs above their reception desk, which says, “A lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on our part,” illustrating the fun they like to have while at work. They feel that there are enough stresses in our lives without trying to add more.
Jan and Peter’s willingness to enjoy themselves each day does not mean a drop in standards, operations, pride in their work or the professional way with which they conduct their business. When visiting the Brimac premises, you notice how clean and tidy the office and workshop spaces are.
Brimac operates by appointment only; Jan and Peter work set hours with both the office and workshop well attended. All procedures and paperwork are clearly set out and fully explained.
Love of the Shire
Peter remains passionate about the Shire and has many views on how to improve the area. He particularly sees the need for more promotion between council and Chambers of Commerce as a must.
Having lived all of his life in the Shire, Peter has participated in a variety of sports either as a player, coach and/or administrator. While he remains relatively fit, these days he likes to watch the grandchildren play soccer - as does Jan.
Time for family
Jan and Peter enjoy eating out and it is something they do often. Much of their spare time is also spent with their grandchildren.
Currently renovating their house, the old adage of work hard and play hard can easily be applied to Peter and Jan, with the key being to have some fun while you’re doing it.
So, the next time you need a Blue, Green or Pink Slip, go and see Peter and Jan.
