Cronulla and National Park Ferry Cruises provide services which gives locals and tourists alike access to the Shire’s beaches - some secluded - sand dunes, cliffs, spreading heaths and cool rainforests – all of which can be enjoyed on walks lasting a few hours to several days.
Cronulla to Bundeena
The Cronulla to Bundeena ferry service operates hourly aboard the M.V. Curranulla. This short scenic cruise takes you to the gateway of the Royal National Park, Bundeena.
Bundeena itself is a unique small community set within the Royal National Park. Offering picturesque views of our waterways, passengers can relax at one of the many cafés or lunch at the local RSL.
For those who like to exercise and seek adventure there are numerous walks, which provide hikers with a fascinating day or half day of bushwalking and or picnicking. Aboriginal carvings can be discovered at Jibbon Point, or you may want to visit one of the many coastal fishing spots or simply stroll or relax on one of the sandy beaches.
Scenic Cruises
The Cronulla and National Park Scenic Cruises explore Port Hacking aboard the M.V. Tom Thumb III in three hours. The Port Hacking River is one of Sydney’s most unspoiled waterways with bays and inlets positioned all the way down to the open areas of the Port Hacking and Bate Bay.
Pioneering explorers, Bass and Flinders, discovered the Port Hacking River and surrounding bays in 1796 aboard the Tom Thumb II, during which time they explored and mapped the area for three days. Unlike the rowing boat used in 1796, the Tom Thumb III provides passengers with a relaxed and informal atmosphere to enjoy your cruise.
During your cruise you can learn about the early explorers, deer farming and the state’s first fish hatchery. You will see breathtaking views of the Royal National Park, Aboriginal sites, discover their names and meanings and see some of not only the Shire’s, but also Sydney’s, most impressive waterfront homes.
An experienced staff and crew provide morning or afternoon tea, with full commentary of local and historical sites. All cruises depart from the public wharf at Tonkin St, Gunnamatta Bay just below Cronulla train station. There is parking for cars and coaches.
